About Us

Kelvin Walker is the managing director of Detroit Business Solutions, a Michigan-based real estate and small business consulting firm. For nearly three decades, Kelvin has helped entrepreneurs expand their businesses through commercial and industrial real estate acquisitions and divestitures. Now, he works with select clients to help them acquire and manage investment properties and to implement small business marketing and management strategies.
Prior to founding Detroit Business Solutions, he was an associate business broker with Capital Business Brokerage. Throughout his real estate career, Kelvin brokered more than $100 million in industrial transactions and worked with a diverse mixture of companies on a variety of real estate and business expansion projects.
Recognizing the business and emotional complexities involved when selling or acquiring a business, Kelvin brings a wealth of experience and serves as a one-stop deal management resource for his clients. Additionally, Kelvin enables his clients to remain focused on operating their business as the acquisition or sales process can be lengthy. He also understands the numerous challenges small business owners encounter every day including effectively managing their business operations, collecting unpaid accounts and marketing their products and services.
He specializes in positioning businesses to achieve the optimal sales value and provides a wealth of expertise in negotiations and closing complex transactions. As a fixer and trusted advisor, Kelvin delivers pragmatic solutions to complex acquisition and business challenges that often derail the transaction closure.
Kelvin had a successful career as a vice president at Jones Lang LaSalle, a director at KW Commercial’s Northville and Royal Oak, Michigan offices and an industrial broker at Cushman and Wakefield.
He worked with companies including Ameritech (now AT&T), Ashley Capital, Central Transport and Ryder Integrated Logistics. Additionally, Kelvin worked on the Chrysler Corporation’s former world’s headquarters redevelopment—then one of the largest brownfield projects in the United States—in Highland Park, Michigan, that is now known as Oakland Park.
